Back on track with my investigations as requested by the Archcanon of fun – Tarvus. Oh! I’m glad he’s not here to hear me. I know he’s concerned about Lord Vivec’s fading powers so I shouldn’t really take the mickey but as Aunt Tangberry would say “A smile a day gets you through”. Although I think she was saying it more to herself really when Uncle Peaseberry had done something wrong again!!
Anyway, Balmora. Nice place. Lots of guards and important looking Dunmer. I spotted a notice on a wall stating that the local Shalk Ore Mine is closed – interesting.
The best place to gather information is always at a local inn, so guess where I’m going. The Randy Netch Inn looks good to me. Well, I’ve heard Dunmer aren’t always nice to outsiders but I met a nice barmaid called Milesa, who was so pleased to see me. After a couple of drinks (only polite when in a new place) I totally forgot why I was there and decided to go for a walk along the river, but there might have been mention of Ashlanders, whoever they are.
There’s nothing like a stroll along a river to clear the mind and overhear conversations. I met a Khajit called Renaku, who seems concerned with cultists in the area! He was reluctant to chat about it but it seems there are indeed cultists in the area – daedric cultists and it all seems linked to the closed mine.
The mine is easy to find and that is also where I find Crew Chief Hondulf anxiously waiting outside. He confirmed what I had heard in the town about cultists and Ashlanders. Some of his workmen haven’t got out so I offer to go look for them. I didn’t think there would really be any daedric cultists inside, I mean who in their right mind would join a cult! They certainly weren’t very welcoming when I tried to ask them about missing workers and why there were skulking around in a mine. Ok, so my wording could have been better, but they didn’t stop me investigating.
I managed to put a stop to some funny little ritual there were performing and made off with their ritual items. I should go back to town and mull over what has happened with cultists and Ashlanders at the mine.
I wonder if the Randy Netch has rooms to rent.
